It all started with banana bread…
I’m Rachel Bailey and I am based in Columbia, SC. For years, I worked in land use law for a municipality and recently changed gears to work with a renewable energy company. When not working, I’m a huge fan of concerts, travel, and movies. I’m also a cat mom to three lovable fur babies.
In late March/early April of 2020, the entire world was learning about COVID-19 and the majority of people went into lockdown mode. I am not an overly social person, but I do love my friends and it was hard to accept that we wouldn’t all be in the same room for awhile. There were so many things I couldn’t control (and I’m a control-freak) so I wanted to find a way to cope with the resulting anxiety. Baking was my saving grace. It started with banana bread and then blossomed from there. I started doing porch deliveries and scheduling pick-up times for friends to get cookies and other treats. We would chat outside or through windows. As the pandemic raged on, I started trying more difficult recipes and started to create my own recipes. Family and friends kept suggesting I start my own Instagram page for my baking. Those suggestions lead to the creation of Rachel Bakes at Home, and I never looked back! Rachel Bakes at Home is now on Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, Food Talk Daily, and it keeps growing.
I am so happy that you are here and know that you’ll find reduced-guilt recipes for your entire family to enjoy!
