As we enter into September, I am scrambling to get my summer recipes, like this mango and banana nice cream, up on the blog before everyone transitions to pumpkin spice and apple! Yes, I’m cutting it close! It’s been a journey getting this site where I wanted it to be and backtracking to add old and new content. We’ll get all caught up eventually, I promise!
Nice cream really doesn’t have to be only for the summer though. People eat ice cream all year long, so why not nice cream? I’ll have to come up with some fun fall and winter flavors. Nice cream is SO EASY to make. This version requires only two – TWO – ingredients and a food processor. Don’t be afraid to have a double or triple scoop – It’s totally reduced guilt!

Refresh My Memory- What’s Nice Cream?
Nice cream is most often made with frozen bananas. It gets its name because it is such a reduced guilt version of the classic. Also, nice cream is incredibly quick AND easy to make. No churn, no freezing overnight…it all comes together in a food processor. Some recipes out there require added liquor, such as almond milk. My version doesn’t have the added liquid and just calls for fruit and a bit more pulsing in the processor to get that dreamy texture.
Go Ahead and Add Mango and Banana to Your Freezer!
I have peeled, frozen bananas in my freezer at all times. Load up on some frozen fruit as well so that you can have this treat whenever you’d like. Check out my blueberry and banana version as well!
Materials Needed:
- Food processor (at least an 8-cup capacity)
- Cutting Board
- Knife
- Spatula
- Airtight container
Ingredients:
- 2 frozen ripe bananas (small to medium) – peeled and diced into pieces
- 1 1/2 cups frozen diced mango
Process:
Dice frozen banana in 1 inch chunks and add to food processor along with the mango. Pulse until desired consistency, stopping every once in awhile to scrape down sides with spatula. Will take about 10 minutes of processing to get smooth, scoopable texture so don’t give up!
Scoop and serve immediately. Transfer any leftovers to airtight container and store in freezer up to a month.
